Checkout the official thread here in the PSX-Place forums and join the discussion for this unofficial PS3 Port. There is alot more information on this unofficial port along with various links and details for instructions to setup many of the libretro cores being used. The result becomes one of the most stable RetroArch builds on the PS3 with more libretro core's (emulators) then ever to add to the RetroArch (frontend) for your Homebrew enabled PS3 powered by either your favorite CFW or PS3HEN., So, that is where RetroArch (CE) has been filling the gap in providing a port that has fixed some longstanding issues on the PS3 with a greater focus on the console itself.

The PS3 had a great media player in Movain and hopefully pPlay can emerge and become a must have option for your homebrew enabled PS4 as well. This video player (pPlay) aims to provided a needed solution for the PS4. The PlayStation 4 has another Video Player for the PS4 called PS4 Player from developer Lapy, which is a useful app but an application that has only seen maintenance updates for sometime and has limited codec support.
Starting in v3.6 (now resides at v3.8 time of this writing) the developer provided PS4 support for the project (source code here) and since then provided several quick updates (in v3.7 & v3.8) to improve the PS4 port of this handy application for your PS4 Console. Now PS4 dev Cpasjuste has ported another project from the Switch with the release of pPlay (a new video player for the PS4). Homebrew enabled PlayStation 4's (PS4) have seen a new homebrew release from a developer who has been killing it with some great releases of late (some of those included pNES pSNES & pFBNEO to name a few of the recent PS4 releases).
